School Spotlight: Repton Al Barsha, UAE
Our School Spotlight series showcases what makes our global community so special, shining a light on the individual strengths of our exceptional learning environments and understanding the benefits of being part of our wider community. We are proud to introduce this month’s School Spotlight; Repton Al Barsha, our outstanding partner school in the UAE.
Repton Al Barsha is a distinguished British curriculum school located in the vibrant educational hub of Dubai Science Park. Catering to students aged 3 to 18 the school prides itself on delivering a holistic education with outstanding pastoral care. A pursuit of excellence is complemented by a dedication to creating a nurturing and dynamic learning environment.
Our school is where tradition meets innovation, and every pupil is encouraged to explore their passions, challenge themselves, and develop into confident, capable individuals.
The school follows the UK National Curriculum, leading to IGCSEs and A-Levels, ensuring students gain internationally recognised qualifications. Emphasizing digital literacy, Repton Al Barsha is an Apple Distinguished School, seamlessly integrating technology into teaching to enhance learning outcomes.
Grounded in values of responsibility, academic excellence and kindness, Repton Al Barsha aims to nurture well-rounded individuals who contribute meaningfully to their communities.
We cherish our close links to Repton UK and embrace many of the same values and identity. This includes the House system throughout the school, with pupils and staff passionately supporting membership of their particular house community. The inter-house rivalry and competition is one of the most marked and special aspects of the school.
Our school is known for its strong sense of community and ‘The Friends of Repton parent association is integral to that community, organising a variety of events and initiatives that strengthen the bonds within the school. This active involvement provides platforms for parents to connect and fosters a supportive and vibrant school community, benefitting students and families alike.
The inaugural GCSE cohort in the 2023/24 academic year delivered outstanding results, with 35% of students achieving grades 9-8 (A*), and an impressive 53% securing grades 9-7 (A*-A). These remarkable achievements highlight the exceptional dedication of our students and the unwavering support of our staff.
Subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and History saw particularly strong performances, showcasing the depth of academic talent at our school. With a 100% pass rate, these results reaffirm the commitment to academic excellence and the ongoing success of our pupils. This year our school proudly celebrated the opening of a new Sixth Form Centre for the Year 13 cohort. Purpose build for post 16 study, the vibrant and supportive space empowers students to explore their passions, challenge themselves and build lasting friendships.
Traditions at the school include termly ‘Achievement assemblies’ which celebrate all of the incredible academic, musical, dramatic & sporting achievements of our Reptonians and include performances from our talented musicians and choirs.
Recent school initiatives that have had a hugely positive impact on the community include a non-stop 24-hour fitness challenge as part of Global Be Well Day, where staff cycled overnight and were joined by students throughout the school day, and a Community Bake Sale – both raising money for the Sparkle Foundation in Malawi.
