School Spotlight: International School Zurich North, Switzerland
Our School Spotlight series celebrates the unique qualities that make our global community extraordinary, highlighting the distinctive strengths of our exceptional learning environments and exploring the advantages of being part of our international family. This month, we are delighted to shine the spotlight on International School Zurich North in Switzerland.
At International School Zurich North (ISZN), we are a diverse and inclusive international community. With over 30 nationalities represented among our 250 students, we provide a unique blend of the IB and British Curricula. From Nursery to Grade 12, we foster an environment that celebrates global perspectives, top holistic education, while offering a rich and extensive co-curricular programme.
Our school is a microcosm of the world, bringing together over 30 nationalities in a warm and welcoming environment. With approximately 250 students, we’re committed to cultivating a community where diversity and collaboration thrive. Our purpose is to inspire students to reach their full potential, supported by strong connections with families and local partnerships such as ETH and the Swiss Basketball Association.
At ISZN, no two days are ever the same! Recently, our students have participated in an Enterprise workshop in collaboration with the London School of Economics, Performing Arts workshops with Cognita schools across Switzerland, and an unforgettable Ski Camp at the breathtaking Laax resort. For our older students, mock exams are a key milestone, and we’re already excitedly planning an enriching programme of summer camps to round out the year.
One of our most cherished traditions is the annual summer school camp, where the entire school heads out to the mountains or the ocean for a week of outdoor learning. Another highlight is “Räbeliechtli” (Turnip Lantern Festival), where our Primary students light up the forest with hand-carved lanterns and traditional songs—a magical celebration of Swiss culture.
ISZN stands out for its personalized approach to education, where every student is valued as an individual. Our small size allows us to foster close relationships among students, staff, and families, creating a supportive and nurturing environment. Combined with our innovative curriculum and emphasis on global citizenship, ISZN offers a truly unique learning experience.
We’re incredibly proud of our new secondary campus, which has transformed the learning experience for our students. Featuring state-of-the-art facilities, including advanced science labs, a modern library, and cutting-edge classrooms, the campus provides the perfect setting for innovation, exploration, and academic excellence.
Being part of Cognita opens the door to global opportunities for our entire school community. From leadership programmes like the UCL research project involving our Head of Primary and Deputy Heads, to middle leaders participating in the Aspiring Leaders initiative, and even exchange programmes with schools like our partner in Florence, the possibilities for collaboration and growth are endless.
