Cognita announces its fourth school in Brazil
We are delighted to announce that Centro Educacional Pingo de Gente & Laviniense has joined the Cognita family. Located in Manaus, Amazonas state, Pingo de Gente & Laviniense becomes our fourth school in Brazil and our first school in the North Region.
Centro Educacional Pingo de Gente was founded in 1976 as a Preschool and gradually grew to include the Primary School and High school, receiving the name Laviniense Ensino Integrado, as a tribute to the founder’s family name. Nowadays, it has some 1,010 students, aged between 2 and 17 years old. It is considered a pioneering school in the city of Manaus, for encouraging students to have autonomy over their own learning.
“Sharing our legacy with the Cognita group is an honour,” says Maria Elisabete Claro Magalhães and Natalia de Lourdes Claro Vieiralves, the school’s founders. “It is gratifying to know that the school, which was born of an idea and gradually consolidated, has been recognised and welcomed into this large global family,” they add.
“We are very excited to be part of Cognita. We are confident that our students, as well as our school team, will benefit enormously from this global partnership, being able to share best practices and exchange programmes from the other Cognita schools now that we are part of the family”, says Neila Maria Fernandes, General Director.
“We feel really privileged to welcome Pingo de Gente & Laviniense to our Brazilian family. They are already a leading and highly reputable school not only in Manaus but also at a national level in Brazil due to their academic results”, explains Josep Caubet, Cognita´s Chief Executive Officer, Latin America. “We will protect and preserve their really special ethos and values and will work together to keep developing their educational project, sharing the best practice within Cognita and bringing the globalisation to Manaus”.
