Year 6 student leaders from Cognita’s Akeley Wood Junior School had the honour of learning alongside HRH The Duchess of Cambridge this week, while discovering new interactive STEM activities at Bletchley Park.

Part of its new D-Day exhibition, our Year 6 students took on the role of codebreakers and learnt how to use the Enigma machine with The Duchess of Cambridge whose grandmother worked at Bletchley Park during the Second World War.

“My granny and her sister worked here. It’s very cool. When she was alive sadly she could never talk about it,” Kate told them. “She was so sworn to secrecy that she never felt able to tell us.”

The students later presented The Duchess of Cambridge with the Akeley Wood School woodland toys as a memento of their meeting.
